Business Competency
ECON 3100
International Economics
For our final presentation, we had to select a global trade issue to research and give a presentation. Since highschool, I have done research on and kept up with the progression of the Belt and Road Initiative, a modern-era Silk trade road executed by the Chinese who have established presence in four continents. It was only natural that I do my research on the BRI, but specifically port development in three countries.
International Management MGT 3030
With a group, we were tasked to analyze the business environment and foreign direct investment opportunities in our select country. My group chose Singapore as our case study, where I focused on the legal and political systems that would ultimately lead to a friendly or not friendly global business environment.
Marketing and Society MKT 3030
This being the first part of a four part, semester-long project, students had to select a United Nations Sustainable Development goal to research. In addition to learning about our selected goal, we had to determine what marketers should do in achieving the SDG. In my case, I chose to study SDG #4: Quality of Education.
Culture and Literature Competency
MONT 3090 - Supplemental Internship Course
Our final essay was supposed to be about an aspect of the French work culture/environment we wanted to study further. Since I did a teaching internship, I was curious to know about the world of teaching in France, so I made my report based on that. I also included a cultural comparison to teaching in the United States and an interview with a teacher on the current education climate in France.
CHIN 4990 - Chinese Culture
This final essay compares films and articles discussed in class and critiques filial piety as an institution and describes the harmful effects it has on children. My thesis is as follows: This paper examines the concept of filial piety in Chinese culture, arguing that, far from embodying genuine respect for family and elders, it often undermines the self-respect and autonomy of Chinese youth, leading to harmful consequences for their well-being and identity.
Linguistic Proficency
CHIN 2020 - Chinese Language
In Chinese class, we had one-on-one conversations with a teacher over in China to practice over language skills. This report serves as a conversation outline, containing questions I asked, new vocabulary I prepared to talk about with the teacher, and new vocabulary I learned from the conversation.
